TF2 Update Fixes Dragon's Fury Crash Exploit and Several Items
Team Fortress 2's latest update addresses several cosmetic issues and closes an exploit that allowed Dragon's Fury to crash a server. It also adds a new style for the General's Greatcoat.
The update installs after a restart
Valve has released a focused Team Fortress 2 update covering item visuals, server stability and a creator-facing importer option. The update is applied automatically when Team Fortress 2 is restarted, so players do not need to activate a separate in-game setting to receive the changes.
This is not presented as a major balance patch or a new mode. Its notes concentrate on individual cosmetics, a War Paint regression, two Unusual effects and item-import support. The list also includes a fix for a Dragon's Fury exploit capable of crashing a server, plus an update to the koth_sawmill_event map.
A new coat style and repaired cosmetics
The General's Greatcoat now offers an additional style named โNo Grenades.โ It gives owners another way to display the coat without changing the underlying item. The visible style names for The Damage Dealer have also been updated, an organizational change to the labels of its existing choices rather than the announcement of another new style.
A regression affecting the Sandwich Diner War Paint has been corrected. In software terms, a regression means a previously resolved problem had returned; the update restores the intended fix. The Hat of Undeniable Wealth and Respect received two repairs of its own: its missing BLU skin was restored, and its low-resolution materials were corrected.
Two Unusual effects have received visual adjustments. Flor de Muerto was changed to reduce on-screen clutter, while Electric Impulse was adjusted to improve visibility. The notes do not describe either effect as removed or fundamentally redesigned, so the confirmed scope is limited to how clearly and cleanly each effect appears.
Dragon's Fury exploit closed and importer expanded
The most consequential stability item concerns Dragon's Fury. Valve fixed an exploit through which the weapon could be used to crash a server. The announcement does not frame this as a weapon balance adjustment and provides no altered damage figures or mechanical values; its stated purpose is to eliminate the crash condition.
The item importer now supports the Medic backpack bodygroup as well. This is primarily relevant to community creators preparing compatible items, because the importer can now recognize that specific bodygroup option during the content workflow. No broader replacement for the Workshop pipeline or additional creator system was announced alongside it.
A map update with no additional details
The patch notes also say that koth_sawmill_event was updated. They do not specify which locations, assets or technical elements were changed, however. Without further information, there is no basis for attributing a layout revision or a particular gameplay adjustment to the map.
After restarting the game, players can check the new General's Greatcoat style, the restored team skin and the adjusted effects themselves. Although the patch is compact, it touches several distinct parts of TF2: cosmetic presentation, community item support, map maintenance and protection against a server-disrupting exploit.
