Team Fortress 2 update fixes Taxi Cabbed, medals and koth_dryfield issues

Valve has released a focused Team Fortress 2 maintenance update. The patch touches Taxi Cabbed, tournament medals and a list of practical fixes for koth_dryfield.

A focused pass on cosmetics and map stability

The newest Team Fortress 2 update is a maintenance patch that applies automatically after restarting the game. It is not a sweeping balance pass, but it does address several issues that players can notice directly during matches or while managing their inventories.

One of the headline items is an update to the Taxi Cabbed war paint. Small material or texture problems matter in TF2 because cosmetics are part of both player identity and the trading economy. Valve also fixed sticker mip settings and corrected a case where the wrong wear texture could be used. For players who care about how items look in loadouts, these changes should make presentation more consistent.

Tournament medals get attention

The update also adds or refreshes several tournament medals. That may sound minor next to a weapon rebalance or a new event, but medals are one of the main ways TF2 recognizes community competition inside the game client. They give players a permanent profile marker tied to participation, staffing or achievement in organized events.

Community tournaments have helped keep TF2 visible for years, and official medal support gives those events more weight. For organizers, it connects their competitions to the inventory system. For players, it provides a collectible record that sits alongside cosmetics, badges and other long-term account history.

koth_dryfield receives practical gameplay fixes

The most gameplay-relevant part of the patch is the work on koth_dryfield. Valve fixed a teleporter prison exploit, which is the kind of issue that can distort a round quickly in King of the Hill. When a map allows players to trap or displace opponents in unintended ways, team fights become less about positioning and more about abusing geometry.

Other koth_dryfield fixes cover broken geometry around the RED hut near the control point, a roof that could appear to float from a distance, and environmental placement such as a watercooler facing the wrong way. Access to the balcony area has also been improved, and missing player clip zones were added to reduce awkward movement and unintended spots.

What players should check after updating

This is not the kind of patch that changes the overall TF2 meta overnight. Its value is in cleanup: fewer visual inconsistencies, fewer map oddities and a smoother experience on a community map that needed attention. Players who regularly queue into King of the Hill should feel the koth_dryfield adjustments most clearly.

If you own Taxi Cabbed items or sticker-heavy cosmetics, it is worth checking their appearance after the update. If you play koth_dryfield, pay attention to the teleporter routes, RED-side geometry and balcony access. TF2 item traders can also manage buying and selling through GameinShop with escrow support for safer transactions.
