Throne and Liberty 4.9.0 introduces Snowsoul weapons

Update 4.9.0 lets players upgrade Ascended Talandre Archboss weapons into the new Snowsoul tier. It also adds a new enemy grade and revises achievements.

Snowsoul sets a new ceiling for weapon progression

Snowsoul weapons are the centerpiece of Throne and Liberty update 4.9.0. The new tier sits above Ascended Archboss weapons and provides a route for eligible Ascended Talandre Archboss weapons to reach item level 85. This is more than another isolated collection of drops: it creates a direct next step for players who have already invested in high-end equipment. An existing weapon remains relevant because it becomes the foundation of the upgrade instead of being immediately displaced by an unrelated item.

Crafting a Snowsoul weapon requires an owned Ascended Archboss weapon together with new upgrade materials introduced by the patch. The notes also identify Thunderstruck Snow Flower as part of this new progression economy. The practical objective is therefore to transform an established weapon rather than begin an entirely separate equipment chase. Before committing resources, players should compare the weapon they currently use, the required materials, and any competing upgrade priorities. Checking the live crafting recipe is especially important during the first days, when the value and availability of new materials may still be settling.

Party Champions create a new middle tier of enemies

The update also adds Party Champion as a new enemy grade positioned between Elite and Boss. That classification gives groups a clearer indication of the expected threat: more demanding than a regular Elite, but below a full Boss encounter. In group activities, that extra rung can affect target priority, defensive cooldown timing, and the way a party budgets healing or other limited resources. It also gives encounter designers room to apply meaningful pressure without turning every tougher enemy into a boss fight.

The lasting impact will depend on where Party Champions appear and how frequently they are used. Even so, the intention visible in 4.9.0 is straightforward: combat difficulty now has a more precise step between two familiar extremes. Parties should avoid treating these enemies as ordinary Elites, while also resisting the urge to spend every boss-level tool immediately. Observing attack patterns on the first attempts, keeping interrupts ready, and adjusting roles after seeing the encounter will be safer than relying on the old label-based assumptions.

Nix achievements arrive as obsolete goals are removed

Update 4.9.0 introduces new Nix achievements and removes achievements that can no longer be completed. Clearing inaccessible objectives reduces confusion in the achievement list and keeps the tracking system aligned with content that is actually available. Achievement hunters should review their lists after logging in. The new Nix objectives may alter efficient completion routes and personal priorities, while the removal of retired entries means old checklists may no longer reflect the live game.

Maintenance was scheduled to begin at 10:30 p.m. PT on August 26, or 5:30 a.m. UTC on August 27, and was expected to last roughly three hours. Once servers return, the main points to verify are the exact Snowsoul recipes, sources for the new materials, and the behavior of Party Champion encounters. Confirming current in-game requirements before a major crafting decision can prevent avoidable resource spending during the opening period. Players who trade Throne and Liberty items through GameinShop can also use escrow protection to keep transactions secure.
