The Frozen Divide: Nix update expands THRONE AND LIBERTY with new Adventure Codex acts, a side story, Collection Codex entries, and achievements. The update arrived with a planned eight-hour downtime.
The Frozen Wasteland becomes the next progression step
THRONE AND LIBERTY update 4.0.0, titled The Frozen Divide: Nix, adds a new chapter to the game's progression path. Adventure Codex Part 3: The Frozen Wasteland includes six acts and additional appendix quests. Access requires completion of Interlude Chapter 2 - Oath Ritual, so the update is aimed at players who have already followed the current story line.
That requirement is important because the new content is not positioned as a disconnected activity. It continues the existing quest structure and gives prepared players an immediate route forward after maintenance. Anyone returning for the update should first check whether their character meets the prerequisite, since unfinished Interlude progress will block entry into the new acts.
Codex goals and achievements expand
The update also broadens several Codex systems. Stellar Journey gains six new Starry Memory entries under Adventure Codex, while the Collection Codex receives 66 new entries. Related achievements are being added as well, giving completion-focused players more than a single story path to chase once the main quests are finished.
This matters for the rhythm of daily play. Codex entries, achievements, and linked collection goals often create the structure that keeps players moving after the first clear. Instead of one large reward being the only reason to play, the update creates a web of smaller objectives that can be advanced across repeated sessions.
Remnants of Nix adds a later side story
Update 4.0.0 also introduces the Remnants of Nix Side Story Codex. During that side story, players enter Remnants of Nix through the Rift in Lawless Wilds. The prerequisites are stricter here: Part 3 Act 6 must be completed, along with the appendix quest A Patch Beyond the Blizzard. That places the side story after the new main chapter rather than beside it.
Downtime for the update was scheduled to begin on June 24 at 10:30 p.m. PT, or June 25 at 05:30 UTC, and was expected to last around eight hours. Before jumping in, players should check quest completion, clear inventory space, and prepare for new Codex tracking.
