RuneFest 2026 Preview Confirms RuneScape's 2027 Roadmap Reveal
The RuneScape Summit will cover the closing stretch of 2026 and outline the game's direction for 2027. Skill 30 and Vampyrium remain planned, but neither will appear in this presentation.
The 2027 roadmap takes center stage
The RuneFest 2026 preview has clarified what players can expect from RuneScape's next major planning presentation. The RuneScape Summit begins on October 3, 2026, at 18:00 UTC, corresponding to 19:00 BST, 14:00 ET and 11:00 PT. The broader official event stream starts earlier, at 13:00 UTC, giving viewers a full afternoon of programming before the central Summit segment gets underway.
The presentation is intended to close the book on the remaining portion of 2026 while setting out RuneScape's roadmap for 2027. Players should therefore get a clearer view of both the immediate priorities and the overall direction guiding development next year. The preview also establishes useful boundaries in advance, identifying two anticipated projects that remain in the plans but will not be part of this particular broadcast.
The focus returns to RuneScape's foundations
Jagex says its direction has shifted since RuneFest 2025. The current approach places renewed emphasis on restoring the core RuneScape experience and strengthening the foundations that support it. Rather than treating the roadmap as a simple queue of additional content, the team is giving more attention to the underlying state of the game on which future updates will depend. The Summit's announcements are expected to reflect that change in priorities.
Experiments conducted during 2025, together with the move to a version of RuneScape without Treasure Hunter, have given the team what it views as a clean slate. That starting point creates room to make the game more approachable for returning players and people arriving for the first time. Jagex also stresses that broadening RuneScape's audience cannot come at the expense of its established community, so existing players remain part of the same planning balance.
Havenhythe continues as the world broadens
Havenhythe will remain part of RuneScape's ongoing plans, but Jagex does not want one narrative arc to occupy the spotlight for too long. Future content is intended to move among a wider range of characters, locations and lore. The current story is therefore continuing rather than being abruptly set aside, while the wider game world receives more opportunities to develop beyond a single setting or group of characters.
That intention suggests the roadmap will connect narrative variety with the larger effort to reinforce RuneScape's foundations. The Summit is not being positioned as a reveal of every future plot point, but the stated direction makes the desired pacing clear: individual arcs should have room to progress without overstaying their welcome. For players interested in the breadth of RuneScape's setting, the plan is to distribute attention more evenly across its people, places and history.
Skill 30 and Vampyrium will sit this one out
Skill 30 and Vampyrium are still planned, but neither project will appear during this RuneScape Summit. Jagex's position is that the new skill should arrive only when the game's foundations are ready and its timing makes sense. Its absence from the presentation should not be read as a cancellation. Instead, the team is choosing not to put the project on display or attach it to this roadmap event before those conditions are in place.
Players can follow the day's program through RuneScape's official Twitch presence. The complete stream starts at 13:00 UTC, with the roadmap-focused Summit beginning five hours later at 18:00 UTC. Giveaways are also scheduled during the broadcast. A shrimp badge will be available in connection with one hour of viewing on eligible official channels, so anyone interested in that reward should make sure they are watching through a participating channel.
