Path of Exile 2 Reaches Full Release with Duelist on December 11

Path of Exile 2 will enter full release on December 11. The free-to-play launch will also introduce the long-awaited Duelist class.

The move from early access to full release

Grinding Gear Games has confirmed that Path of Exile 2 will reach full release on December 11, 2026. The announced timing is based on Pacific time, so the calendar date may roll over to December 12 for players in parts of Europe and Asia. The studio also made one important point explicit: the complete game will launch as a free-to-play action RPG.

For players following early access, the announcement establishes a firm destination rather than another broad development window. Full release should bring a much larger wave of players into Wraeclast at once, with likely effects on matchmaking, guild activity and the player-driven economy. Existing players can now organize character ideas and launch-period plans around a specific date.

Duelist joins the launch roster

The clearest content reveal is the confirmation of the Duelist. Grinding Gear Games introduced the class through a new trailer shown during gamescom Opening Night Live in Cologne. Within the Path of Exile setting, the Duelist name traditionally suggests a melee fighter combining strength and dexterity, although the sequel's exact skills, progression routes and specializations have not yet been detailed.

That distinction matters: footage from a reveal trailer is not enough to establish a final skill list or a launch-day best build. What is confirmed is that Duelist forms a central part of the December 11 release message. Melee fans gain another starting option, while the class's effect on equipment demand and trading can only be judged properly after detailed class and balance information arrives.

What new and returning players can do now

The developer is directing both newcomers and returning players to a registration page on the official Path of Exile 2 website. Signing up provides a way to receive release news and updates, while the campaign toward launch also includes exclusive rewards tied to community milestones. Players should check the official conditions as those milestones develop instead of relying on incomplete reposts.

The practical preparation is straightforward: secure your account, follow official announcement channels and wait for the detailed release information expected closer to December. Experience gained during early access will still help, but balance, classes and item values can change before the full launch. Avoid treating the current meta as a guarantee when making expensive or irreversible in-game decisions.

What remains unknown before launch

The announcement locks in three facts: full release arrives on December 11, the game will be free-to-play, and Duelist is joining the roster. It does not specify the complete patch scope, precise server opening time, a possible new league structure or how progression resets may work. Those questions require further official communication rather than assumptions based on the brief reveal.

More class showcases and system explanations are likely as the release approaches, giving players better information for planning builds and resources. Path of Exile 2 currency and items can be traded on GameinShop with escrow protection, subject to the game's and platform's applicable rules.
