Mad Angel Combat Achievements Arrive in OSRS
Old School RuneScape has added Combat Achievement objectives for Mad Angel. The update also revises Sailing tasks and their reward loop.
A new mastery test for Mad Angel
Old School RuneScape’s August 26 update turns the Mad Angel encounter from a fight to complete into a measurable test of mastery. The new Combat Achievements give players extra objectives built around cleaner execution and success under specific restrictions. They also provide a clear reason for experienced players to return after securing their first completion.
Combat Achievements tend to reward consistency and mechanical knowledge rather than a single victory. Adding Mad Angel objectives may require players to reconsider equipment, resource use, positioning, and damage windows. A practical approach is to stabilize a normal kill first, then focus on one achievement condition per attempt instead of trying to solve the entire list at once.
The addition also matters to accounts progressing through Combat Achievement tiers. Because new tasks can affect overall progress, players chasing reward thresholds should review their task list. An encounter that was previously considered finished may now offer more points and another route toward long-term account goals.
Courier Task rewards expand in Sailing
The other major part of the update concerns Sailing. Courier Tasks can now award Loot Sacks, adding another layer to the delivery activity’s reward loop. That gives routine journeys an element of anticipation and may raise the potential value of each voyage beyond the basic completion reward.
Loot Sacks could encourage players to weigh travel time against expected returns more carefully. The shortest delivery may not always be the strongest option once port location, preparation costs, and the number of tasks that can be chained together are considered. Early market prices may be volatile, so it is worth comparing the value of selling rewards immediately with keeping them for later.
Jagex also announced further Sailing changes alongside the Loot Sacks. Adjustments of this kind can reduce small points of friction that shape the skill’s everyday rhythm. Players should test whether their established routes remain efficient and avoid treating older profit estimates as current without checking the results themselves.
What to check before diving in
Before attempting the Mad Angel tasks, read every condition carefully, organize suitable gear in advance, and note why failed runs ended. Trying to satisfy several restrictions simultaneously can make the learning process harder than necessary. A reliable completion followed by focused speed or restriction attempts creates a clearer path to progress.
Sailing players can begin by comparing several Courier Task routes for time spent and net rewards. A Loot Sack’s usefulness to an individual account may matter more than its immediate Grand Exchange price. If its contents support production, collections, or another account objective, using the rewards directly may be the better choice.
Overall, the patch adds fresh motivation to both high-level combat goals and Sailing’s repeatable task loop. Players looking to trade OSRS gold, items, or accounts can do so securely through GameinShop’s escrow system.
