OSRS Status Centre Confirms End of Android 32-bit Support
Old School RuneScape can no longer be updated or accessed on Android 32-bit devices. Jagex also centralized weekly update, maintenance, and live issue information.
What changed in the status centre?
The Old School RuneScape team has updated its Game Status Information Centre so players can track downtime, maintenance, and live service issues from one place. The page is not just a simple online/offline notice; it now acts as a standing reference for planned maintenance, unexpected problems, and access changes players should know about before logging in.
The biggest practical change is on mobile. As of June 24, 2026, OSRS client version 239 and later no longer support 32-bit versions of Android. Existing installs on those devices cannot update to the current client, which means they also cannot access the game. For players who have used the same phone or tablet for years, the key point is that this is a device compatibility issue, not an account problem.
What Android players should do next
The end of 32-bit Android support matters most to players on older or budget hardware. If the app no longer shows an update, stalls during launch, or fails before reaching the login screen, the first thing to check is whether the device supports a 64-bit Android environment. The same OSRS account can still be used on supported mobile hardware or through the PC client.
This change does not remove character progress, bank items, membership, or account data. It simply closes the route in from unsupported devices. Players who do daily runs on mobile, monitor Grand Exchange activity from their phone, or rely on mobile access during active membership should test a supported device ahead of time instead of waiting for a login problem during a time-sensitive session.
Maintenance windows are easier to plan around
The status centre also makes the weekly rhythm clearer. OSRS game updates are normally expected on Wednesdays, with an in-game shutdown timer appearing before worlds go offline briefly. Tuesday maintenance windows will continue to support infrastructure work. On some weeks, a small number of worlds may remain unavailable for a little longer after the main maintenance window has ended.
That structure is useful for anyone planning boss attempts, raids, risky PvP, or long skilling sessions. Players should avoid carrying valuable items into dangerous areas near maintenance windows, check notices before entering instanced content, and treat the official status page as the first stop when live issues appear.
