CS2 update repairs Cache and expands map scripting tools

Counter-Strike 2โ€™s new patch cleans up gameplay issues on Cache and gives map makers finer control over events, weapons and grenades.

Two clear priorities in the patch

Valveโ€™s August 3, 2026 Counter-Strike 2 update addresses both practical map problems and the scripting framework used by community creators. The broadest player-facing fix closes a case in which grenades could be thrown through level geometry. That may sound narrow, but any break in an assumed solid wall can undermine utility planning, safe positioning and the consistency expected in a competitive round.

The remaining notes fall into two groups: visual and physical cleanup on Cache, and a wider set of events and methods for the map scripting API. The result matters beyond standard matchmaking. Competitive players should see more dependable collision and grenade behavior, while Workshop authors gain more precise ways to track what happens to players, weapons, bombs and grenade projectiles.

Cache receives collision and geometry cleanup

The updated Cache closes several gaps, repairs collision in multiple locations and resolves flickering on some assets. A boost position around Outside A Shelter has also been removed. These adjustments reduce unintended sightlines or positions and should make interactions between players, utility and the environment easier to predict.

Cache has also been moved to the latest version available through the Community Workshop. Returning players should test familiar setups rather than assuming every old detail still works. A corrected ledge, a sealed gap or the removed boost can change crosshair placement, utility lineups and coordinated teammate boosts. The notes do not describe a wholesale redesign, but small geometry changes can still decide rounds at higher levels of play.

A richer event system for map makers

On the scripting side, the Instance object gains capabilities for tracing players, reacting to weapon pickups and bomb explosions, and spawning grenade projectiles. The weapon-drop event now carries information about the dropped entity. Grenade-bounce handling can identify the entity struck and report the surface normal, allowing scripts to respond not just to a bounce, but to where and against what it occurred.

Grenade projectile objects can now expose their grenade type and thrower, and scripts receive a method to trigger detonation. A planted C4 method can also determine whether the bomb belongs to the A site. Together, these controls can support clearer feedback in practice maps, alternative objectives in custom modes and more reliable event logic without relying on fragile workarounds.

What players and creators should do next

For most players, the immediate outcome is a cleaner Cache experience with fewer geometry surprises. Competitive teams should spend a few minutes checking established grenade lineups and boost plans on an offline server after updating. Because the patch notes do not announce weapon balance changes, the familiar economy and gunfight structure remain intact; the main adjustment is refreshing map knowledge.

Creators should test existing Workshop projects against the revised event parameters and add safe handling for unexpected entity types before adopting the new calls. The expanded API is most valuable when maps provide useful feedback instead of merely adding effects.
