Three Major Bugs Under Review After Apex Legends Split Two Launch
Three technical issues are now under official review during Split Two's opening week. Alter portals, Broken Moon geometry, and reset settings may affect matches.
Issue tracking begins with Split Two
As Apex Legends enters Split Two, the development team has identified three known issues that can interfere with normal play. The September 17, 2026 notice says the team is investigating Alter portals that can send players to the wrong location, structures on Broken Moon that allow players to clip through the ground, and game settings that reset on startup for some users. No repair schedule accompanied the notice, so understanding the risks is useful while work continues.
Although the list is short, each problem affects a different part of the experience. The portal bug can disrupt movement and squad coordination, the Broken Moon issue weakens confidence in map geometry, and a settings reset can change controls or performance without warning. In a ranked match, an unexpected destination or unfamiliar sensitivity can be enough to decide a fight.
Alter portals and Broken Moon geometry
The most visible issue concerns players emerging from an Alter portal somewhere other than the intended destination. Alter's kit relies on portals for escapes, pushes, and squad repositioning, which makes an inaccurate exit more than a cosmetic fault. Until a fix arrives, squads may want to assess the area around an exit, communicate before committing, and keep another route available instead of assuming every portal will behave predictably.
On Broken Moon, players can clip through the ground around some structures. A collision failure of this kind may interrupt movement, obscure visibility, or leave a player exposed. The announcement does not identify the affected structures, so players who encounter unusual surface behavior should avoid repeatedly forcing the same position. Capturing the location and circumstances in a report could also give the team more useful evidence.
Check settings before entering a match
The third tracked problem causes game settings to reset on startup for some players. The notice does not specify whether this affects aiming sensitivity, graphics, audio, key bindings, or every category. A quick pre-match check is therefore sensible: verify mouse or controller sensitivity, field of view, display mode, audio levels, and any custom bindings before joining a live game.
Keeping screenshots of preferred settings can make restoration faster if the problem returns. Players can also confirm in the lobby that recent changes remain saved after restarting. These steps are not fixes and should not be treated as such; they simply reduce the chance of discovering altered controls or performance options in the middle of a fight.
What players should expect next
The developers say they are tracking all three bugs and working to resolve them, but the announcement provides neither a release time nor a patch number. Following official update notes is therefore more reliable than guessing at a fix date. In the meantime, Alter squads should treat portal exits cautiously, players on Broken Moon should steer away from suspicious geometry, and everyone affected by resets should inspect their configuration at the start of a session.
Useful reports should include the platform, mode, map location, and steps that led to the problem whenever possible. The opening-week issues are frustrating, but their presence on the official known-issues list confirms that investigation is underway. Players should watch for a later update before assuming any of the three problems has been fully resolved.
