What the Apex Legends: Marked midseason patch changes

The second half of Apex Legends: Marked begins September 15. Its patch touches combat balance, loot flow, long-range weapons, and anti-cheat systems.

Split 2 resets several parts of the match

Respawn is opening the second half of Marked on September 15. Rather than building the midseason package around one headline feature, the update adjusts several systems that shape the pace of a match: Legend balance, loot availability, three long-range weapons, and the usual collection of fixes and smaller refinements.

That combination means players should look beyond the numbers attached to their favorite Legend. Team compositions may shift, but resource management and preferred engagement distance matter too. The patch's real effect will become clearer once ranked squads reveal how these changes interact instead of judging each adjustment in isolation.

More healing loot could ease resource pressure

The loot changes include greater availability of healing items. That may help squads recover after an early fight and reduce the number of rotations dictated mainly by a desperate search for syringes, med kits, or shield resources. More consistent recovery options can also make follow-up fights feel less dependent on random scarcity.

Extra healing does not make a careless push free, however. Inventory space, positioning, and the time required to recover remain meaningful constraints. The likely benefit is that shortages should decide fewer encounters by themselves, leaving mechanical execution, target selection, and coordinated team decisions with a larger role in the outcome.

Long-range pressure may matter more

Three long-range weapons are receiving buffs. It is too early to declare a new meta before each weapon is tested in live matches, but the direction should give more options to squads built around marksman fire or distance control. Crossing exposed ground and challenging teams on high positions may consequently demand more planning.

A useful first step is to revisit the firing range and relearn recoil, projectile behavior, and comfortable sight choices. Stronger ranged weapons can change more than damage comparisons; they may affect which optics a squad carries and how ammunition is divided. Close-range lineups may need better routes or abilities for safely closing distance.

New detection targets unauthorized controller tools

Respawn also says it deployed significant new detection systems before Split 2 to identify unauthorized controller hardware or software. The effort is not limited to PC: PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2 are included. According to the studio, the systems went through several months of validation before implementation across those platforms.

This may prove the patch's most important long-term change for competitive integrity. Detection details are understandably limited; its value will depend on catching rule-breaking setups while minimizing incorrect enforcement. From September 15, players can assess the balance, loot, and weapon changes together and adjust their squad plans with evidence from actual matches.
