Apex Legends August 26 Update Fixes Four Match-Impacting Issues
The August 26 update targets two Legend interactions, a Battle Royale action lockout, and movement problems that could appear after reconnecting.
Octane’s passive can restore full health again
Respawn’s August 26, 2026 Apex Legends update is small in scope but addresses four problems capable of affecting the course of a match. First, Octane’s passive healing once again restores him all the way to full health, as intended. This should be understood as a correction to expected ability behavior, rather than a new balance buff or a change to the Legend’s design.
For Octane players, the result should be most noticeable while preparing between engagements. When the passive stopped short of its intended endpoint, it could alter resource planning and the decision to wait or use a syringe after taking damage. Full recovery makes the choice between consumables and passive regeneration predictable again. Opponents are not facing a newly expanded capability; the in-game result has simply been brought back in line with the established function.
Gibraltar’s unintended speed combination is removed
The second Legend-specific fix concerns Gibraltar. A particular interaction allowed him to sprint faster than intended when the Fast Shotties perk was combined with the Corrupted Stock. The notes do not announce a broad movement-speed adjustment. The change is aimed at the exceptional result produced by those two elements together.
That distinction matters when players assess their loadouts. There is no reason to assume Gibraltar’s baseline movement or Fast Shotties in isolation has been rebalanced. In practical terms, the fix removes unexpected mobility from one combination. Closing distance, rotating between cover, and disengaging should therefore return to the timings intended for the character, reducing encounters decided by an erroneous burst of speed.
Action lockout and reconnect movement receive fixes
The remaining two items address the wider Battle Royale experience. The update fixes rare cases in which players could be locked out of nearly every action. Even if uncommon, a failure that prevents access to basic commands can decisively ruin a match, particularly when it occurs during a fight or while a squad is moving through a dangerous area.
Respawn also corrected an issue that could cause rubberbanding, jumpy behavior, or jittery movement after a player reconnected. This does not amount to a promise that every form of network lag has disappeared; the note identifies a specific post-reconnect behavior. Players should make sure the update is installed and, if the same symptoms continue, report when they occurred along with the mode and connection circumstances. Rather than adding content, this patch concentrates on reliability. Across all four changes, the shared goal is clearer consistency between player input, ability rules, and what actually happens on screen.
