Wildcard gets a temporary ruleset
Apex Legends’ Ascended Hunt event began on August 18 and runs through September 8, 2026. Rather than centering on a separate map, it changes the flow of Wildcard matches through special powers. Legends can obtain abilities described as gifts from beyond the Outlands, expanding their movement, sustain and offensive options during a run.
The format promises a faster rhythm in which power is not determined only by the opening loadout. Players who take fights and make progress can strengthen their advantages, creating a fresh tradeoff between avoiding early danger and building momentum quickly. Wildcard’s more experimental identity makes it a natural home for this temporary system.
Three power themes shape team decisions
The announcement highlights supernatural speed, health stolen from opponents and aggressive effects capable of tearing through enemies. Those bonuses can alter more than individual duels; they may change how a squad selects and approaches targets. A speed-enhanced player can initiate, while a teammate with life-stealing power may gain more value in an extended exchange.
Because the powers evolve through combat, squads are encouraged to seek manageable fights instead of waiting passively for the final stage. Marks earned during the event can be used to claim special Ascended Hunt items. The collection’s headline cosmetic is Apex Bruddah, a new gold-themed Prestige skin for Gibraltar. As a cosmetic reward, it does not provide competitive power or change the balance of a match. Getting more from the event
Using the first few matches to learn how each power activates may be more productive than immediately chasing rewards.
